Iceland is situated in the South of the Arctic Circle, in the heart of Atlantic Ocean and at about 900 km far away from the Continental Europe. Its naturalistic diversity makes it one of the most interesting countries in the world.
Iceland territory is mainly mountainous, one of its main characteristics is the contrast between Glaciers and volcanoes, that’s why Iceland is called “Land of ice and fire”. National flag shows that contrast: the red cross symbolizes the volcanic lava; the white edge represents the ice; and the blue symbolizes the sea.
All Iceland rivers start from the hinterland and flow to the coast, that’s why you can find a lot and huge waterfalls.
